About Me

I grew up in northern Minnesota on a dairy farm, two of my brothers are also farmers. I graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and then moved with my husband to Oak Park. I have lived in Oak Park since 1975. In 1999 I completed a Masters Degree in curriculum and instruction at Concordia University, River Forest, IL.

My husband was on the Oak Park Fire Department for years, he now does plan review for the Village of Skokie. I have two children who attended the Oak Park Public Schools. My son graduated from the University of Montana in Forestry and has been working as a fire resource person at the Grand Canyon. My daughter is attending Northern Illinois University and is pursuing a degree in special education.

I have taught in several Oak Park Elementary Schools, but am thrilled to be here at Longfellow in the penthouse suite on the third floor. It gets a bit warm, but our music making is cool.

I am an Orff-certified teacher of elementary music, I currently teach students in grades 1-5 for general music class. We also have a 4th and 5th grade chorus that meets on Wednesday afternoons. I also wear another hat within the district. I am the Teacher Leader for the Vocal/General Music department, we have a wonderful music program in this district and I have a great group of colleagues work with. It is so wonderful to work so closely with each of the district teachers, they are a fantastic group of people.
